Another Place #rustICL could be super useful is for the media server users of the world.

RN migrating to #Jellyfin from #plex based on an old discussion with @geerlingguy.

JellyFin seems quite good, works mostly OOTB, with the only issue being the #OpenCL/#Cuda requirement for #HDR #tonemaping.

Since I'm running JF as a docker container on a TrueNAS SCALE box, there's no OOTB OpenCL/CUDA support.

The machine in question is running a 12100 and an rx5600xt, with VAAPI working fine

On my #Radeon RX 580 I got result of 12,517 M samples/s, while the best result for that #GPU available in #benchmark database (https://www.indigorenderer.com/benchmark-results?page=15&sort_desc=result_combined&filter=singlegpu) is 11,674 M samples/s. It means that #Rusticl has better performance (by ~7%) than similar card running on Windows.

I tested #Rusticl with Indigo Bench (https://www.indigorenderer.com/indigobench) and it not only worked (which is already a success as #Clover is failing on that part for me) but it also managed to crunch a really good result.

I couldn't wait any longer and I had to test myself the next #Mesa release (23.1, not yet released but already release candidate) which brings #OpenCL support to #AMD #Radeon #GPU with #Rusticl. I wasn't sure what to expect as #Rusticl is still work in progress, but as it turned out it works really well in my short testing.

#Rusticl es uno de los componentes más prometedores de Mesa, ya que puede brindar un buen soporte de #OpenCL para #AMD #Radeon sin tener que tirar de componentes raros que son soportados por pocos sistemas.

I literally cannot wait for #Rusticl to be finished and available in #pop_os #linux #Mesa drivers. I want to actually be able to use my GPU for rendering/encoding and it actually beat my CPU by more than a minute or two
