I had the pleasure of chatting with Michelle Frechette on WPCoffeeTalk today. We talked about WordPress, my new site, and the fields API

And we now have running water! Replacement water pump works like a charm π
Road trip in to civilization today to grab a replacement water pump.
Four hour round trip π
I disassembled and reassembled the pump and still couldn't get it working. I don't see anything visibly wrong with it but π€·ββοΈ
Hopefully replacing it works. Otherwise I've got a spare pump and still no running water ππ€¦ββοΈ
Today's project: fixing the water pump. Cuz it just stopped working.
Yesssss!
Partly cloudy today but much cooler than it was earlier this week. During the clear periods, I'm seeing consistent 1150W from my #solar array.
That's 82% of rated output, which is a LOT better than the 58% I was getting on Monday when it was super hot.
The drop in output was definitely because of the heat

Off-grid living be like: torrential downpour? Find every possible container and get it outside to catch rain! π
#rvlife #offgrid #boondocking #digitalnomad
Ergh, I didn't plan for the power being used during the day when I built my solar setup.
Only about half of my solar output is going to charging the batteries... the rest is just going to normal power usage.
Well... time to add more panels :D
#rvlife #offgrid #solar #boondocking
My solar array isn't putting out as much as I would've liked... but it's also stinkin' hot, and heat does have an impact on solar panels.
Seeing pretty constant 820W and it's rated for 1400W max. That's like 58% of their rating :\
Expecting to be cloudy and rainy for the rest of the week, so I suspect we'll be relying a lot on the generator. Batteries will only last 2-3 days without sun to charge them up.
I opened the door today to get some packages that other campers made sure to deliver to our door today. As I did, a group across the field shouted WE MISS YOU ALEX!!!!! weβre still quarantining for COVID, so we havenβt seen anyone all week.
Community is fundamentally why we started picking two seasonal spots, and Iβm so here for this moment. Itβs nice to be loved.

3 days of 4+ hours each cleaning. 20+ microfiber clothes, 1+ scotch bright scrubby, home made bleach and soap spray, 3 large bottles of "Nu Finish".. and "Star" is cleaner than she's been in a long time. There are a lot of rock hits and a few cracks in the fiberglass, but looking for for a '98 RV with a lot of adventures in her. Ready for more. #RVLife.
Landed safe at our off-grid launchpad campground.
We'll spend the weekend here stocking up supplies, filling our fresh water tank, and fueling up.
Sunday we head off to the wilderness, 2 hours from any city and 30-40 mins from the closest signs of civilization.
We'll be off grid until the first week of October. I'm super excited for the quiet downtime. Still connected and still working for 4 out of the 5 weeks, but the space and solitude will be lovely.

We made it back to Charlie, our camper in Vermont, yesterday. Weβve all got Covid and Iβm pretty much spending my day recovering. Gilmore Girls, fever reducers, and tissues abound. Iβm so glad we got back before everyoneβs symptoms peaked.

T minus 4 days until we go off grid for 5 weeks in the northern Ontario wilderness. Excited π

Well, I had a good run. Just over 3 years I have managed to dodge Covid, but it seems my luck has run out.
And no, isolating in a camper is anything but fun.
Parked the camper about 1/3rd of the way to DC from our summer home in Vermont. Didnβt even bother disconnecting it from the truck. Weβve got places to go!
I do feel bad for this campground though. Weβve done this three times to this same one. Itβs just in the right spot for a late night layover on the way to DC (and more importantly, the Outer Banks π )

Earlier this year we bought a used camper to put on our seasonal lot in Vermont. This post talks about the camper, and how it stacks up with our other campers.

Once upon a time, before the internet. RV's had antennas that received UHF and VHF signals over the air. It was called "Television". Star's TV Antenna (most of it long removed) got a crack, then a hole, and leaked. I swear the original factory sealant was just plumbers putty, and not much of it. The original screws were serious and I could not remove them so I ground off the heads to remove the antenna. It's all sealed up now. More #rvlife
My teens were making their first attempt without direct oversight to drain our travel trailer's tanks into the portable tote for taking to the dump station, didn't pay attention to how full it was getting, and from what I'm told briefly had black water shooting out of the tote's air vent and onto the ground. What fun. ππ©
