If you don't know the #Howells quartet. Check it out. The opening theme could be one of the most evocative in English music. I guess it is supposed to evoke Chosen Hill in Gloucestershire. The RVW piece seems to me to have a similar atmosphere, especially the sweeping first phrases in the strings. Good stuff.
