What a lovely rugby-filled weekend. Didn’t watch every match in full but managed to see a few minutes of some matches while watching all of others. Obviously delighted Ireland had a good start, though plenty to work on. Reffing standards have been pretty decent. From drop goals to dropped passes, from out of key anthems to out of beer stadiums, an interesting opening salvo. Thanks to all the rugby heads on mastodon for their commentary and fun comments.

My own experience of the #RWC2023 omnishambles at #Bordeaux was getting an email from our campsite - _nothing_ from #RWC! - advising of road closures. So we'd a 40 minute walk to the stadium in 36C. Got in OK but then had a 30 minute queue to buy beer, then _another_ 30-min queue to collect the beer we had bought! Plenty of bars dotted around, but with just one tap each! Twice as many in RDS for half the crowd!

Ok England won, with 14 men, a match Argentina should have. Being favourites in a match seemed to weigh heavily on Argentina.

France beat New Zealand without hitting top gear. Very very few teams ever do that.

Georgia showed their progress, Australia finally won a match, Ireland and Italy cruised.
