Saab's Gripen is a great aircraft: very robust, agile, fast, versatile and inexpensive to operate. but one of its outstanding characteristics also is a downturner: it has explicitly no nuclear capabilities!
Saab argued that it opened the option of limited escalation. That the conflict could be carried out without someone on the other side fearing a nuclear attack.

Sadly, NATO members all tuned away from Saab.
