"The closest lava reached is still about 1.7 mi from Saddle Road. The middle part of that flow is still hot and a bit higher in the middle than the edges. It will creep a bit closer as the hot insides push outward as the flow settles. Saddle Road is no longer in imminent danger."

"If the Saddle Road is cut, people will be traveling highways along the coast. It might take a little longer for a trip and congestion may be an issue. It's good to plan, just in case. But after Kīlauea's 2018 eruption ended, vital roads were put in fairly quickly."

"Lava is 3.6 miles from Saddle Road. It could reach the road in ~2 days (fastest estimated time) but lava is about to reach flatter, more gentle terrain. It will likely spread out and slow down. Lots can change so we will continue to report on it."
