While I was grocery shopping at Safeway this morning, I overhead the employees talking about no longer carrying premium brands (their words) such as Foster Farms. I think they also mentioned Häagen-Dazs. They went on to say some items are on sale to get rid of them-- something I've seen before. By the way, there were a good number of sales this week. I definitely spent less than I normally do.

Oddly, I couldn't find Dunkin coffee in the regular size, and they were only selling the option for a family of 10 at four times the cost. They also moved it to the very bottom shelf, giving their own brand prime space.

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

I'm already having to shop at other stores for certain items they no longer carry.

I ate a free donut from #GiantFood today. I think Giant has the best reward point program for grocery stores. I'm always redeeming my points for free stuff that I actually buy normally (bread, milk, eggs, meat).

#Lidl has a pretty weak reward points system, but they make up for it with their everyday low prices on just about everything.

#Safeway, with their Just For U coupons, has the best all around coupon deals.

OMG I miss Safeway so much. We had a pilot store nearby in Largo, FL, but it got bought out by EVIL TRUMPERS Publix. I still have my card! I can't wait to retire to our house on the Oregon Coast, which we're renting out until then. There's a Safeway at the bottom our hill in Lincoln City!

My local #Safeway has now installed all these security gates so if you leave without buying something (which I do, all the time, if the lines are too long) you have to squish yourself past the other people in an open checkout line. It’s ridiculous.

Annoyingly, yet another sub-$10 personal care product I have to start ordering on Amazon because our local #Safeway started locking them up. 🙄🙄🙄 I now have to order all my shampoo, conditioner, drugstore skincare stuff, and sunscreens online, except for one hair care product I can get at the Ocean Ave. Whole Foods.

Have you noticed a difference in your local #bartelldrugs since #riteaid Aid purchased the chain?
Our local BD, Roosevelt Square, went from being served by the same helpful friendly #pharmacy staff for years to, almost overnight, what seems to be a perpetually under-staffed disaster with constant churn in just a few months.
We finally gave up and switched to #safeway .
I'm sad about that.

#Safeway had another coupon for a free Signature Select frozen pizza, so of course I went down there to get it. While I was there, I bought two slices of cake at their bakery since it was on sale, 2 for $4. I like buying their slices of cake every once in a while because I don't want to buy a whole cake--I'd just eat it all. Safeway's cakes are really good. You wouldn't think it was a grocery store cake. Those square slices are big, so I eat half and save the other for the next day.

So I'm convinced Safeway is purposely overcharging.

Today I comparison shopped. So for example, a 6-pack of Figi bottled water.

At Target $7
At Luckys $7 (newly carried!)
At Whole Foods $6
(with Amazon Prime discount) or $7 otherwise

This recent bag of #mandarin oranges I got from #Lidl is fantastic. Super sweet and juicy. Nothing like an ice-cold mandarin. The last bag I got (from #Safeway) was all dried up.
