Really enjoying JOSEON ATTORNEY. Most of the other people I know watching it (from the Kdrama Discord server) are doing so because they like Woo Do-hwan: I’m doing it because I like the concept of “procedural drama but make it a #sageuk.”
The first three episodes are a little uneven but episode 4 is really a banger, and the dynamics between the leads (Woo Do-hwan and Bona) are great. #kdrama #kdramas
I did not realize MR. QUEEN was on Netflix when I did my #sageuk poll so I may have to do it again with MR. QUEEN as one of the options and see how it stacks up against KINGDOM, the winner of my previous poll.
Zombie sageuk or zany genderqueer Quantum Leap sageuk? It’s hard to choose! #kdrama #kdramas
#AreYouHumanToo is essentially a #Sageuk . Just throwing it out there.

I have watched more of KINGDOM and if you like #thelastofus or #zombie stuff in general you will like KINGDOM, guaranteed.
If you like sageuks (Korean historical fiction) you will *love* KINGDOM because it’s effectively a deconstruction of the #sageuk genre.
The thing is that zombies are always a signifier for for structural violence, dysfunction, and/or corruption in a society. /1
I re-watched THE CROWNED CLOWN, I am wrapping up this biopic about 15th-century scientist Jang Yeong-sil, and I’ll soon be starting on POONG, THE JOSEON PSYCHIATRIST Season 2 when it starts on January 11th. So that’s 3 #sageuk #kdramas in a row where Kim Sang-kyung is in the supporting cast.
I finished #BloodyHeart yesterday (shortly before midnight). It is a really beautiful #kDrama to watch. However, if you do not like politics in your #sageuk dramas then this would be one to skip. It is entirely politics.
#JangHyuk is great in it! as #LeeJoon and #KangHaNa also play beautifully together.
If I do have one gripe it is that there was not enough #LeeTaeRi. You can't just show him to me and then make me pray for another glimpse. It's not fair :p

I always find it striking how portrayals of the Ming and Joseon attitudes towards Ming in #sageuk #kdramas of the last decade or so are reflective of contemporary #korean attitudes towards #china and not actual Joseon attitudes towards Ming.
Korea’s relationship with China is way complicated. More so than the U.S. relationship with China, even. So the attitude in these sageuks is “Ming is a local hegemonic gorilla and we, Joseon, resent them.” /1
