Aaah, with the traditional argument with my brother in law. Like Godwins Law but the conversation always somehow turns to Islam. He's very angry with the Muslims for some reason I can't get to the bottom of. Apparently they have a constant & significant impact on his life. He's vaguely asserted that 'they're taking over' and 'there are too many', which is why it's VITALLY IMPORTANT we celebrate St George's Day. How? By having a roast dinner. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🫡

Today is Saint George's day, the patron saint of , and many other regions and towns. The historical George of Lydda is purportedly buried in (Lydda), a city in Israel. The photo below was taken by me at the catacomb of the Church of Saint George in Lod, where his tomb can be visited.

The 15th-century icon depicts one of the miracles of St. George, who rescued the king’s daughter from the dragon sent to the city as a divine retribution for paganism. The story of this miracle was the most favorite and common theme in the Ukrainian icon painting. The icon is currently in the National Art Museum of Ukraine.
