A little #Sangiovese at the restaurant for #wine with dinner this evening. Out at #ilFornaio #BeverlyHills and it was a fine wine to go with our pasta.

@megmaker If I have to pick one variety, it would be #Sangiovese, but I drink a lot of rosé, & I like to vary styles.
It just so happens, this full-flavored example is on the wine list tonight.

Dinner of pennoni (American sized penne) with grilled sausage, sauteed mushrooms, oven roasted tomatoes, broccoli rabe, mozzarella, Pecorino, red pepper flakes, basil oil. Sangiovese goes nicely with all that, and on the sideboard waiting to be opened was the Donatella Cinelli Colombini Rosso di Montalcino. I liked her wines so much at the Benvenuto Brunello event in NYC last month, I thought the Rosso would be good to drop on my wine club this month. It was a happy meal.

@keepof4worlds we talked about #Sangiovese the other day - this is one of the “peasant” rosés we can get here, that absolutely laughs at the idea. Deliciously dry, fruity and smells divine! #Pauletts is a great local #ClareValley winery, with a cellar door you could stay at all day just admiring the view, and eating divine food on the balcony overlooking the valley.

@micchega we were very spoilt on our trip...a day tour to Siena, San Gimignano and #Pisa , a day in #Florence and the #Chianti tour...big fan of the #Sangiovese #grape now. Want to try many more...love a #Rioja and #Malbec too #winegeek
