Bluesky users are having a massive #TrustAndSafety conversation in the wake of the #Bluesky team’s decision to platform an individual with a history of violent and hate-driven posts.

In a thread chastising the Bluesky team, one person mentioned the #SantaClaraPrinciples. I’m pretty new to T&S discussions so I had never heard of these before, but I’m so glad I did and I urge others to read them too. It’s not a silver bullet, but it’s a very interesting starting point.

* Educate on things like the #SantaClaraPrinciples and other principles of effective moderation and Trust and Safety and not balk at their application.

* For those with the tools, time, and experience: Build better experiences elsewhere. Be it on Mastodon (as you mention here), #ActivityPub, a commercial product of some stripe, or in enabling those experiences through tools. Build the sorts of experiences we want to see in the world.
