The French protests are interesting to watch from the South African perspective, tactically.

The EFF in particular are good at fast-moving, unpredictable protest groups. Those youngsters can run pretty damn fast, and their paramilitary culture makes them, on average, faster to react than, say, ANC groups.

France's Brav-M motorbike unit seems a response the #SAPS could emulate. But, politically, cops riding motorcycles fast in crowded environs is not, you know, turning out well.

3/ The society is affected by something akin to an autoimmune disease, it is eating itself alive, be it #corruption in every sphere, not just politicians or the #SAPS but throughout the corporate sector as well, be it the #ConstructionMafia or large scale gutting of public infrastructure.
