The #MachineLearning algorithm that distinguishes #meteors from #airplanes #satellites #birds etc. was initially developed by Fiachra Feehilly from DCU for his BSc final-year project with @jmackey @diasdunsink @diasastronomy.
It is very effective!
The project was enabled by the huge training dataset put together by volunteers in the #globalmeteornetwork and @meteordoc, going through each detection by hand to identify false positives and true meteors.
