Finally used my Museums Association membership and went to the British Library's exhibit on animals and visited the titanosaur at NHM. Membership has almost paid for itself and helps take the sting out of all those hours of volunteering and working (and commuting to both) #sauropod #museums

Happy #FossilFriday! This is the tip of the tail of the Barosaurus currently being worked on at the Museum of Ancient Life. It's fairly rare to find these in a #sauropod fossil, and it's pretty crazy how small one bone can be in an animal over 80 feet long!

Since I can’t get enough #BigTrees … Eastern North America’s widest canopy apparently doesn’t belong to a Live Oak but rather an #AmericanSycamore #Platanus_occidentalis . The Lansdowne PA Sycamore has a 169’ (51.5 m) *average* canopy width. You could easily park a whole #Sauropod in the shade of that!

#Sauropods are the most awe-inspiring of #dinosaurs, #evolving into the largest land #animals of all time. One of the most important #fossils for understanding #sauropod origins comes from Lake #Kariba on the #Zimbabwe/#Zambia border (the #bones come from the Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 side of the lake). The early sauropod found there was named Vulcanodon karibaenesis and it's a rare window into the early #Jurassic world of the oldest sauropods.
