I have a line on a couple of old back saws. Waiting to here on availability, cost, and straightness of plates. No idea on sizes yet, but appear comparable to tenon and dovetail saws. That is what I would file them for, anyway, which is why I’m not worried about their teeth condition. Sellers has a nice tutorial for addressing that.

I’m rarely in the right place at right time on the second-hand website, but I was last night. As I stared at my ‘scie égoïne’ bookmark, a new notice pinged. I clicked it, and there before my unbelieving eyes were five old hand #saws in seeming decent shape, measuring ‘78 (two), 70, 57, and 50 cm’, all for 6€, 1,20€ a piece. This on top of two other saw hauls recently, both FREE, bringing me to 11 western saws of various length. They all need some work, but that’s part of the fun.
