Let's say that Texas #SB17 passes. A lot of people will get hurt very quickly, and many of them may not have the means to run.

What are the social structures necessary to provide evacuation help? Money to move, support finding work in the new area, or getting disability benefits moved, all while and only having a few safe places left.

This feels huge and overwhelming and possibly impossible.

#SB17 is passing in Texas on greased rails. The Texas Senate may stop it, but that seems unlikely.

Licensed professionals (doctors, therapists, lawyers, plumbers, electricians...) will be allowed to discriminate based on religious grounds, and licensing boards cannot take action against them.

This is a Christian-backed bill, so there's a bunch of people in Texas who will soon be morally obligated to discriminate against Christians.

I am so glad I don't live there any more.
