It's been over two years(!) since the last release of the #IOR and #mdtest #HPC I/O benchmarks, so we just cut a candidate for 4.0.0 based on the version used for the #SC22 #IO500 here: https://github.com/hpc/ior/releases/tag/4.0.0rc1
PLEASE kick the tires since there have been huge changes since 3.3.0 came out.

We were so pleased to see our Networking Reception back in action at #SC22 in Dallas, TX! Special thanks to the Purdue University Rosen Center for Advanced Computing for sending their photography team to capture the event - enjoy the photo strip! https://womeninhpc.org/women-in-hpc/sc22-networking-reception-brings-members-friends-and-allies-together
@hpcprogrammer @sri I risked #SC22 (sorry for your experience, Fenanda!) but only for a day and only took my mask off for one session for the "Reducing HPCʻs Carbon Footprint" BOF and only because there were no microphones for the BOF leaders and after checking the CO2 levels; then went to nearly a full week of https://ucc-conference.org fully masked all the time including the DAAC workshop that was a follow-up to the SC22 BOF and managed to come back w/out RSV, COVID, or the flu. Masks work!
Congratulations to Dr. Satoshi Matsuoka, named 2022 Seymour Cray Award #Computer #Engineering Award at #SC22!

#SLURM presentations from #SC22 now available: https://slurm.schedmd.com/publications.html
There’s one I specifically had been hoping to be discussed for so long, and it finally happened: Slurm and/or/versus Kubernetes
It talks about potentially getting the slurm to work with K8s. Something that may not exactly be necessary as engineers do the on-prem and k8s separately, but there are still good reasons to think about the possibility of integration; like managing one infrastructure vs. two.
@ohm314 There was a session at #SC22 which HPCwire covered about this exact topic, albeit not specific to Europe. See https://www.hpcwire.com/2022/12/02/at-sc22-carbon-emissions-and-energy-costs-eclipsed-hardware-efficiency/
Great video from STH for people who love #HPC hardware and infrastructure but didn’t get to see much of the #SC22 show floor (like me!). Also featured: chopping a cooling hose with an axe.
Also, I can't believe people make a living doing this. I could write about cool hardware on show floors 24/7/365. Less sure about being a professional YouTube star though.
Here is STH’s brief article on the #Genoa and #MI200 #GPU nodes on display at #SC22
I hadn’t realized how many other #AMD Genoa nodes were on display from other vendors, but STH did a nice job showing many implementations. I can see now why people liked the heat sinks on Microsoft’s design! Very unique.

RISK-Y business: How far is RISC-V from being an alternative to x86 and Arm in #HPC
Enthusiastic RISC-V backers vs. the skeptics at #SC22
The European Processor Initiative expects native RISC-V accelerators for applications like #AI to come much quicker than general-purpose CPUs

#SC22 #reinvent #HPC I wrote a story for #InsideHPC on my impressions of the supercomputing show and why I think CXL3.0 and custom CPU designs is going to be the future for supercomputers. AWS confirmed some of my thoughts this week. https://insidehpc.com/2022/12/sc22-cxl3-0-the-future-of-hpc-interconnects-and-frontier-vs-fugaku/ the picture is of a 16 way CXL2.0 switch seen at the show.
