My latest #zio #zioscala #scala software (photos management) starts to come to life with a quick & dirty but very very fast photo viewer #javafx based :) https://github.com/dacr/sotohp - faces detection is still running on my photo originals storage ~91000 photos and already 178466 faces found !
A pretty interesting take on Scala:
"com.lihaoyi Scala: Executable Pseudocode that's Easy, Boring, and Fast"
https://www.lihaoyi.com/post/comlihaoyiScalaExecutablePseudocodethatsEasyBoringandFast.html
I agree with a lot of the philosophy of programming encapsulated in this article and the libraries that Haoyi has written. Some popular Scala libraries really are quite impractical and require quite a bit of boilerplate to use. "Easy", "boring" and "fast" really are traits you want in code that you write, most of the time.

Explore the use of the Unnamed Patterns / Variables in programming languages like #Java, #Kotlin & #Scala.
Enhancing code readability, allowing the omission of unnecessary components, and simplifying code are key features.

#Metals 1.0.1 with #Mill BSP is still doing way too much on the Mill repo just to get a reasonable #Scala editing experience. Maybe, our repo is a bit uncommon, as all integration tests and examples end up in separate executable sub-modules, and in some cases (integration tests) lots of modules need to be locally published, but that should not be necessary just to edit the sources. Mill 0.11.2 is out!
https://mill-build.com/mill/Changelog.html#0-11-2
This version greatly improves build speed after build definition changes due a new fine-grained
cache invalidation (change detection on method-level).
We also improved the editing experience and now properly support meta builds via BSP (Metals) and IntelliJ IDEA.

What I want is the Play Framework, without the Java-Guice.
What I want, is for someone to re-imagine Play as an FP first, pure Scala toolkit for joyous, hot reloading, backend-with-frontend coding.
How come #Scala has a zillion HTTP frameworks, but we don't have one of those?
The NE #Scala Call for Papers is open! https://www.papercall.io/nescala2023
Come propose talks! All Scala-related topics are welcome; talks can be 15, 30 or 45 minutes. Multiple proposals are welcome, if you're trying to decide between several topics.
After the CFP closes in mid-September, the members of the conference will get to vote on which talks they'd like to see.
Pass the word!
