Just finished watching season 3 of Deadwind.

As it is an excellent and particularly compelling example of the #scandinoir genre, naturally Netflix have cancelled it.

Re- #Watching #TheBridge (now on Stan in Australia)

#ScandiNoir at it’s best. In the first 2 seasons Swedish detective Saga Noren (Sofia Helin) is teamed with Danish detective Martin Rohde (Kim Bodnia).
I now recognise Bodnia from his role as Konstantin in #KillingEve, and I’m delighted to be reminded many moments are deeply moving. Equally impressive is that The Bridge is not the usual detective story: the search for motives behind crimes depicted highlights important issues like climate change.
(e.g. I almost missed a throw-away reference to the dumping of toxic waste in West Africa. Which is to say the producers have a world-view I find refreshing.)

#TheBridge 2011 Scandi version has been remade in several languages; as The Tunnel (UK); The Bridge (Mexico); The Bridge (Estonia/ Russia); The Bridge (Malaysia/ Singapore); Der Pass (Germany/ Austria); Gefyra (Greece/ Turkey).

Bit of a run recently on audio books - picked this series because it was on the library's site and thought I'd give borrowbox a go.

Fatal Isles, Wild Shores and Cruel Tides by Maria Adolfsson (Doggerland Series 1, 2 & 3) - set on a now submerged (hence mostly made up) location https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doggerland which is very well imagined in the books. They are police procedurals with a hefty concentration on the personal life of the central character - DI Karen Eiken Hornby.

Ch.4 is my normal go to place, have watched most of the stuff on there, but very, very low streaming ability atm with the weather here and having to use phone as a hotspot.

Jussi Adler-Olsen's novel is now a movie. The book was incredible. Now need to see the movie!
