Our #society periodically designates certain individuals as #scapegoats due to its underlying narrative of conflict with the #government. This approach fails to address the broader issues within society itself. Similar to #Hinduism's focus on the effects rather than the root cause, our society continues to combat governmental symptoms rather than solving underlying #problems.

Gaëtan Dugas (1953-1984) was a gay Canadian flight attendant and early HIV patient, who during the 1980s was labelled as “patient zero” for AIDS in the United States.

A researcher referred to Dugas as “patient O”, meaning “outside California” and not the number 0, Dugas was subsequently, and posthumously, blamed personally for the outbreak and spread of the disease in the United States.
