This is for iOS devs who dabble in SCNText.
App has ability for users to import fonts. Some are pretty complicated and if the user tries to apply an outline (chamfer) SceneKit crashes deep in the weeds, typically in something like splitJoinFace.
Is there a way to figure out how complicated a font is for a given character? Like number of faces/vertices/triangles?

I just wrote an elegant solution to a very complex #SceneKit problem on Mac. Now I can export any animated scene, in 4K, with an alpha channel, at any frame rate — and without dropping frames. 😎

My new game is built with #SwiftUI and #SceneKit. Getting touch controls with SCNScene inside a SceneView isn't as straight forward as it is with SKScene inside a SpriteView. With SKScene I use touchesBegan() and touchesMoved(). I wanted to use the same code across all the games, so created a SpriteKitHUD class that is SKScene with just touch methods, then stacked that on top of the 3D scene... feels a bit of a hack, but it works.
Trying a ‘Desert Strike’ camera angle for the new game but the jet may be too small on the Watch. I need to play around with it some more. #AppleWatch #SwiftUI #SceneKit
