This is the townhall of Schaarbeek, a municipality in the Brussels region.

The mascot of Schaarbeek is a donkey, and its cultural center is called "the cherry tree", because it used to be a village outside of Brussels with mainly cherry trees, the produce of which to be sold on the Brussels market, with donkey transport.

(I find the back façade prettier than the front.)

☻ Le permis demandé par la commune de #Schaerbeek pour réaménager l'avenue Louis Bertrand et les abords de l’église Saint-Servais a été refusé par Urban.Brussels et c'est une bonne nouvelle!

Les aménagements anecdotiques au profit des modes actifs servaient surtout d’alibi pour une minéralisation de l’avenue et à l’abattage de 108 platanes en bonne santé.

La commune ne souhaite pas revoir sa copie et a introduit un recours auprès du collège de l’urbanisme. À suivre.

Our application for a small grant to fund an exhibition of community portrait #photography has been successful!

The Department of Dutch Culture of #Schaerbeek (a #Brussels commune) will pay for printing and hanging of selected portraits, and help us to find a suitable space for the exhibition in the first half of 2023.

All subjects receive the high-resolution digital images, and those featured in the exhibition will receive the print when the exhibition is finished.

I often hear #Brussels is a good example of banning/limiting cars on the streets....well, let's say it has its 'obstacles' as well. People disagree when their God®️ given right to own a car and drive with it wherever the f** they want, is taken away or even just slightly restricted.
