Always wanted to efficiently & easily culture bulk of #worms 🪱 in 6-well plates? We created a #3D model insert for this plate format. It is available for everyone on NIH 3D repo (https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-018090).
This insert is currently used by our collaborator Eric Ndombi at KEMRI (Kenya) for identifying resistant #schistosomes to #praziquantel in the field. Worms are treated in bulk (240 in a plate = 4 x 96-well plates). This increases chance of detecting resistant worms (and save a lot of #time).

I have many ongoing projects in #genomics and #evolution of #diseases caused by #parasites. One area concerns #snails that transmit #schistosomes which infect >200 million people. I want to find snail #genes that affect their resistance to infection by parasites, and study how these genes naturally vary and evolve. If we can block infection in wild snails, we could stop the spread of deadly #schistosomiasis.
