Just woke after a long nap and there is so much noise in my ears. Looks like I am taking my 2 a day foundation pills three times today and putting my headphones on until the meds kick in. Some times my 5 a day #anxiety pills will take care of it, but not tonight. #Schizoaffective #MentalHealth

I "pass" for a normie. But I feel alienated from those who don't know why I run out of #spoons.

There's also the self-image that I think gets skewed by social #stigma. Everyone thinks of psychosis as a diagnosis that's a full stop, the end of a productive life, just chronic florid symptoms. Not always true though. I have a hard time relating to those who are in that boat, though, and I assume they don't relate to me either.

I've taken meds pretty faithfully for nearly two decades. They've worked well.

Up to half of people with this type of illness go into remission nowadays. More than ever, some of us are lucky enough to be working and living independently.

That hasn't come without an uphill personal battle. It's been a lonely one. Society's still at "don't ask, don't tell" with this, for my generation... and stigma has real repercussions.

I awakened at 8:30 AM PST today. I went to bed at 8 PM. I am still tired. The day before, I got up at 3:30 AM. That is my life as a #schizoaffective. I decided to take Monday and Tuesday off before I start my 3.5-year trek with #MITx studies. I have something to prove.

When I have nothing to talk about, I talk about my severe mental illness (#SMI). In fact, the SMI is the reason I am idle. #Schizoaffective is very destructive. I plan to learn ML, AI, Statistics, Data Science, and Social Network Analysis to support #mentalillness sufferers.

All right, more mental health shit. This is a bit of a story. My sis had a baby and placed him up for adoption. He has two great-dads, and she and my mom visit the baby every month. At delivery took my anti-psychotic as usual and was fighting to stay awake for her. Those things knock me out and can stress me out.

She told me this week that the dads decided I was not stable enough to meet the child & were a trigger for one dad #mentalhealth #bipolar #schizoaffective #psychosis

I know the Black Shadow I saw during my psychotic breaks isn’t real but I can still feel it in me. It’s hiding, pushed back by my antipsychotics. Can’t look at mirrors unless the room is fully lit, can’t wait mirror scenes in movies. Fucking terrifying. I still feel it sometimes so I know it’s still fucking there in me, waiting for me to fuck up my meds. I’m terrified of night time mirrors and shadow-y. One of the insidious little things about #bipolar disorder is that it turns little bursts of happiness into moments of dread. I'm constantly on guard, wondering if feeling anything other than depressed is a sign that I'm about to have another manic meltdown.

I guess this is also the first post I've made here about being bipolar, so there you have it. I've suffered from bipolar 1 / #schizoaffective disorder for decades. Always willing to talk about it. #MentalIllness #MentalHealth
