Starting a new cycle of beers from 🇮🇪 tonight. I begin with Ninth Wave New World Pale Ale by #TheWhiteHag (Ballymote, Co. Sligo) vs. Full Sail IPA by #GalwayBay (Oranmore, Co. Galway). #BeerNerd #schlueckglueckglueck

- West Coast IPA. 5.8 ABV. Bitter citrus fruits. A bit thin on the palate.
- Oops I Dropped My Pistachio Icecream In My Espresso Martini Pastry Stout. 10 ABV. With coffee beans and pistachios. Pitch black w/ brown head. Soft and smooth, not too rich. Much coffee.
- Chico Travieso Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout. 13.8 ABV. Collab w/ De Zeeuwse Branding (coffee roasters). Thick, rich, creamy. Overpowering coffee

Citra, Strata & Eldorado hops at work here. Tropical fruit, creaminess & touches of summer blossoms make a very good combination here.

#TGIF with #Paderborner (:flag_de:) Geselle auf der Walz ("Journeyman on the Road") vs. Liborius Dunkel (Liborius is the city's patron saint).

I'm mildly curious about these two as the brewery is not generally held in very high esteem. Most people (myself included) in #Germany probably only know their Pilsner, which is sold nationwide (usually in cans) as a slightly better alternative to off-brand discount brews. #BeerNerd #schlueckglueckglueck

This packs 17 ABV, so I think I won't have more than one.

Going Dutch for #TGIF: #Burgunder (#Borne) Stypel. This is a Kuit - one of the most traditional Dutch beer styles, a kind of ur-witbier. And also another two by #IVUur (#Vriezenveen): Hairy Debbie Blond(I)e & Blauwst'rig Black IPA.

Mildly funny & mildly alcoholic: #IVUur (#Ermelo 🇳🇱) Fred Dorst Session IPA (a pun: "dorst" is "thirst" in Dutch).

Like most beers with low alcohol, this one is a bit thin on the palate. Nothing wrong with the hoppiness however.

#WeekendEnd with a Russian Imperial Stout matured in #Laphroaig Quarter Casks. Black Stallion Barrel Aged by #BakNRos (🇳🇱), a microbrewery in Den Ham, northwest of #Almelo, Twente.

New discovery: #Josefs from Bad Lippspringe, 🇩🇪. They claim to be Europe's oldest inclusive brewery, meaning that they mainly employ people with disabilities. Founded in the early 20th century by a priest (for whom the brewery was named). A worthy cause, so I made sure to buy a crate with a selection of all their beers (Märzen, Weizen, Weizen AF, Hell, Pils, Dunkel, Bock, Helles Unfiltered). #BeerNerd #schlueckglueckglueck

#WeekendEnd with one of my most recent dicoveries: #Alderbastend (🇳🇱) from #Deventer-Colmschate. Trying their Frisse Vlegel NEIPA and their Blije Eikel Zwaar Blond, which is matured on oak wood chips. ("eikel" is "acorn" in English, so the name makes sense).

Yesterday: #Kompaan (:flag_nl:) Francis McScott Imperial Stout. Foreign Legion Series, "aged on Croftengea (*) and Hennessy barrels".

(*) "Croftengea" is a peated single malt whisky produced by Loch Lomond distillery.

Now pouring: Whey Tripel and Whey Quadrupel by #Brouwdok #Harlingen :flag_nl:. Brewed for Henri #Willig, a large cheesemaker usually found in tourist places. Hence the whey.

Both beers are good representations of their respective styles. I can't make out any specific "whey" notes, but it does seem to make the beers very smooth.
