Really strange... At least #mastodonIE show #blocked and #limited servers. I got piece of inso that #scholarSocial silences #mastodonSocial but they haven't made this info public in their instance and I can't check... Just it would be really weird if they do bc most of members would not even understand that their view to #Fediverse is limited.

@Kinniska Maybe they're getting slammed with trolling? And I'm sure there are a ton of academics still trying to get in.

This and other academically oriented servers are going to have to scale up fast, or it will defeat the purpose of academics coming here in the first place.

I also worry that the massive influx of academics is more about anxious egos rushing to the megaphone than wanting to find interesting discussions.

oh frick right that's not one of the options, it's a weird omission. over here we use a combination of a message board on loomio (which we do governance stuff on), and a gup.pe group which boosts to everyone following it (which, if it doesn't already exist, I am making right now by tagging @scholarsocial ). otherwise the #scholarsocial tag. y'all may have something for intra-instance communication already, and if not I highly recommend.

does anyone have any idea about the status of moderation on scholar.social #scholarsocial ? it's the default one I recommend to academics and someone on birbsite said they had their account deactivated and no response to attempt to remedy since like April. if not, any recs for alternatives to recommend to new fedis? (pinging @socrates who's listed as admin)
