@michaelgemar @FantasticMrScott @nyrath +1 for #naominovik and the #Scholomance series. Really, anything from her would be on my recommended list. Two other books from her I really like are #SpinningSilver and #Uprooted.

Just finished The #Scholomance 3: The Golden Enclaves by #NaomiNovik. It's a good book with a fitting ending to the trilogy, a good series with a fairly unique works building, and some plot twists that build up along the three books; but finishing it doesn't leave a dreadful void leaving me questioning what I'm to do with my life. I don't know.

While no one is entirely sure what happens to maw-mouths, some wizards have been able to contact humans stuck inside with a communication spell and get a response back. All they get is an unending scream. The Scholomance textbook on maleficaria has only one practical piece of advice about maw-mouths: if you can be killed by something else, take the something else.

I don't know why, but I find the `Maw-mouth` monster from #Scholomance story fascinating. It's like a D&D Gelatinous Cube and Lovecraft rolled into something worse.

This thread by @pluralistic is right about how wonderful @naominovik 's #Scholomance trilogy is. They're really good books.

I would add that these books reminded me of being a smart, weird teenager. Of trying to navigate a world where your potential scares people, things you do without effort scare people, and yet you struggle with the "easy" things that everyone else can do trivially.

Maaaan - if anybody hasn't ready The Scholomance series by Naomi Novik then you should get on that. It is her answer to Harry Potter and it's an INCREDIBLY good answer.
