The 2022 US elections gave Minnesota Democrats control of the governor's office and both houses of the state legislature. They didn't waste much time in putting their governing trifecta to making positive changes the state's people. State Legislators (majority Republican) voted down free school lunches for poor kids (whose family income is less than double the Federal poverty level) and a couple of days later voted to increase their per-diem food allowance by 29%.

North Dakota's State-set minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

The median ND Legislator's income is $72,840 per annum — a bee's dick under three times the US Federal poverty level (for a family of 3) of $24,860 per annum.
