It's great that there is a name for it now. But please don't pretend it is a new thing.
In my parents' day, they could leave school at a very early age, so refusal was disguised by just leaving school early.
In my time we could leave at 14 and a half.
The kids.. had to be in work or study until 18.
I was a school refuser & I missed a lot of school (starting from year one).
One of the kids ditto!
Being smart helped us to keep up with the normals. We both now have tertiary qualifications.
School was not a pleasant experience. Being flexible on attendance allowed both of us to survive.
School refusal is not new.
