I saw an #Economics talk yesterday by Kathy Michelmore on the latest work by herself and @dynarski et al : the HAIL scholarship for low income students at UMich. Struck me how different relative to K12 “scholarships” ( #schoolvouchers) the messaging is from the grantor to grantee for admissions. UM makes quite clear there are still normal admissions to pass. The sales folks behind vouchers are pitching the false promise of entry into elite institutions along with the tax support
