Zeit für ein zufällig ausgewähltes Schottland-Foto des Tages: ein Crofters‘ Cottage auf Tiree. Die Insel gehört zu den Inneren Hebriden. Crofter waren Pächter, die im 19. Jhdt. von Landbesitzern immer weiter eingeschränkt, verdrängt oder vertrieben wurden. Oft zugunsten profitablerer Landnutzung wie Schafzucht. In den 1880ern wehrten sie sich. 1886 kamen z.B. 250 Marinesoldaten nach Tiree, weil Crofter Land des Duke von Argyll besetzt hatten.

Es wird mal wieder Zeit für ein Schottland-Foto des Tages aus meinem Archiv! Dienstags ist immer Uni-Tag, also hier ein Bild vom Gilmorehill Campus der Glasgow University. Gebaut in den 1870ern von Sir George Gilbert Scott im neugotischen Stil. Die Uni als Institution feiert aber in diesem Jahr schon ihren 572. Geburtstag. #Schottland #Glasgowuni #Schottlandliebe

Zufälliges Schottland-Foto des Tages: Abbotsford - das Anwesen des Autoren Walter Scott (1771-1832) bei Galashiels in Roxburghshire. Scott ist derjenige, der u.a. mit Werken wie Waverley und Rob Roy das hochgradig romantisierte Image Schottlands geprägt und populär gemacht hat. Und genauso sieht auch sein Haus aus.

@UndisScot been there, seen it, the round church in Bowmore. Bowmore is a great place to stay on Islay. Especially the Harbour Inn, the serve very fine food.
