our local (national = local in country with 2mil pop.) weekly published a special extra issue about slavery - mostly touching upon history, but I'm fascinated to learn (more) about slavery of Slavs, taken (often) to Italy from 8th century CE onwards. the Dalmatian coast towns were important 'markets' where Slavic people were sold into slavery.
