One of my favourite scientific visualisations: a 3D plot of the molecular structure of insulin. It was created by the team of Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin (nobel-prizewinning crystallographer). The image was created in the early 1970s with a computer-controlled pen plotter.

Stunningly beautiful – and an early example of using computers for visualisations.

Bringing the science back into gamingnscience!

I am in the process of finding a replacement for my telescope motorset. Looking at the Skywatcher EQ-5 enhanced motorset.
I’ll be smarter this time and will pick a system which is upgradable to autoguiding.
Also researching off-axis guiding.
So far it seems a no-brainer to use with my light bucket Newton.
Anyone know a downside to using a seperate guidescope?

Scientists,
when you create a project website or a press release, stop putting your list of objectives in the spotlight. Apart from grant-giving bodies, nobody is interested in them. Not the media. Not the general public. Not even your grandma.
If you have achieved your objectives, that’s what everybody will want to know —what did you achieve and why does it matter? If you haven’t achieved your objectives, pasting them left, right and centre is kind of embarrassing
