Stated hypothesis include...
1. students may not know what effective strategies are
2. students may not know how to implement the effective strategies
3. perceived cost may outweigh perceived benefit

Wang, L., Muenks, K., & Yan, V. (2023). Interventions to Promote Retrieval Practice: Strategy Knowledge Predicts Intent, but Perceived Cost Predicts Usage.

@Knowing Neurons:

In our most recent article, Liza Chartampila explains how Schizophrenia triples the risk of death during extreme heat events. These events are expected to increase in frequency and intensity due to climate change, highlighting the need for better public health policies and practices.

Inclusivity in the Education of Scientific Imagination philsci-archive.pitt.edu/21702

Scientists imagine constantly. But when and how do scientists learn how to use imagination? Across six years of research, it has been found that advanced career scientists feel comfortable using and discussing imagination, while graduate and undergraduate students of science often do not.

4 weeks, 30+ hours of trouble shooting, 1 new 3D printer & countless errors later the sets of horse teeth are almost ready for class.
Students will draw, measure, and determine how they have changed in the Cenozoic.
Thanks @phaneritic for making this happen!

@pseudacris Great perspective! I don't teach Mendelism, per se, in my university genetics class. And emphasize their complex role in producing traits. But it's already ingrained by the time I get them in my class. I'll head to the library tomorrow to check out his book "Making sense of genes".

Don't forget your hashtags...

Well my students aren’t building Markov networks but they are modeling and making tropic pyramids of the Pleistocene ecosystem of Central California using the paleo-data from Fairmead Fossil site.

Glad to read an advanced version of this work and excited to show them they ARE doing real science!!
