I keep 'trying out' Mastodon, I actually really like it, however, I've been using various platforms for years and I've never really put myself out there, well, once, when some art I published hit a nerve with some people and had hundreds of likes and follows overnight, had to turn my phone off at one point, it eventually all kind of freaked me out. I started a new jar, in parallel with the old jar. The only difference is that the new one uses distilled water instead of tap water, and about half as much yeast extract. I inoculated the new jar with about 8oz from the old one. #ScienceExperiment #microbiology

Today my new power supply arrived! So I've lowered the voltage to 70 mV, which I gather is roughly equivalent to the membrane potential of a typical cell. This forced me to switch to DC instead of AC because my h-bridge min voltage is 4.3V.

I've decided to go for a positive control and do my best to actually grow some bacteria! I added Christmas tree water to seed the jar, plus some yeast extract to feed them. If it fails I'll add sugar
