Things like Dragonstar, Starfinder etc. doesn't count due to their direct lineage to more traditional fantasy settings! I can say that I like Stephen King very much. He is definitely one of the better contemporary writers and he happened to write beautiful and harrowing stories. What I like most is The Dark Tower series and the novels that are directly related to it. Such a novel is the one I received for Mother's Day, which is Fairy Tale. The story of Charlie and his dog Radar is cruel, fairy-tale-like and harrowing. Plus, it's diluted into 600 pages of tiny font, so I read it mostly on weekends. I recommend it, King's best newer novel at least since the publication of Outsider.
Long days and pleasant nights.
After that I will go back after at least 15 or 20 years to Gene Wolfe’s The Fifth Head of Cerberus.

#TTRPG friends, what's your favourite science-fantasy setting? I'm trying to expand my map of the continent around the Ultraviolet Grasslands.
So far, I've managed to place Vaarn, Orn from Electrum Archive, the Land of Cicadas from Cloud Empress, as well as some more classical fantasy or sci-fi settings like Yoon Suin or Karth.
Can't use Wir-Heal from Silent Titans, I already ran it as a campaign for those players.
