A 2017 study in #ScienceofTotalEnvironment produced telling, but largely unsurprising results about knowledge, perceptions, & beliefs of #chemical #crop protection among #smallholder #farmers in #SEAsia. Some key findings among surveyed farmers,
1. crop protection by women = 42% less pesticides use
2. had almost no knwldg. of beneficial insects
3. >50% had adeq. knwldg. of pesticides hlth. #risks
4. consultation w/shopkeepers was assoc. w/ a 251% incr. in pesticides use
