My colleagues and I performed a study looking for molecules on the surface of #liver cells during #prenatal development. Before birth, the liver contains heptoblasts, immature progenitors that can make hepatocytes and cholangiocyte (biliary cells). We found that these cells express a molecule know as CD203c. We also showed that a some #cancer cells found in #pediatric #hepatoblastoma also express CD203c.
