I agree with barring reviewers of grants and papers from using AI because they risk disclosing confidential information that the reviewer does not have the right to disclose.
But if it's your own findings, I say knock yourself out!

I was a senior analyst & editor of scientific and technical intelligence products read by people at every level up to the White House. I used these rules every day. My analysts were shocked (and often their pride bruised) when I'd send them an edited product half the length of their draft with more accessible explanations and captions, but they were happy when my efforts resulted in them getting awards. These tips work!

The #betwixt #game is amazing. Put experts from #cognitivetherapy, #mindfulness, #CBT, #sciencewriting, #AIcreativity, #hci, and #gamingforwellness into a pot and shake them up, and this is what comes out: a narrative choose-your-own #adventuregame with a strong connection to existing and ongoing research, driven by your own #selfexploration. I am fascinated and learning a lot about myself.
Come for the story, stay for the free therapy. 😃

I'm inspired by the #SkyIslands of southern Arizona and northern Sonora. They're literally islands, and a giant laboratory for the study of evolution. The hashtag is in my profile so it's about time I wrote about them! Looking forward to more, and hoping to get directly involved in research somehow. Maybe I can be a volunteer bug collector?

So excited to see the cover for the 2023 Best Australian Science Writing anthology, edited this year by the Guardian's Donna Lu.
I'm stoked to be sharing space with so many legends, friends and newcomers: https://unsw.press/books/best-australian-science-writing-2023/

I want to share my go-to resource for science writing.
Angelika H. Hofmann's Scientific Writing and Communication.
Whenever I get stuck on a section, I read her relevant chapter and it just makes writing so much easier! For example, I'm writing the Discussion section, she lays out what should go where and why, talks about common mistakes, and then provides a handy little checklist. So clear!!

The Fediverse tools include #Plume which seems not to be supported anymore and #writefreely which looks nice but would require some work, seems to require a server. I have a domain and hosting at Google but don't know if that can work.
Advice? Ideas? Offers of collaboration? All are welcome. 🙂

Geckos can stick to a surface, but how do they "unstick"? Will a wet gecko stick to a surface? What about a Gecko in a vacuum? How smooth is a dolphin?
Fascinating stuff!

Mathematics articles refer to Section 2 and also Section 2.1 and do not use the terminology corresponding to the latex commands \subsection \subsubsection etc. (at least I've never seen it). But now I want to say "in this section" in Section 2.1 and it's a little too close to the "in this section" in Section 2 for comfort... #math #writing #sciencewriting
