Die waren #RedHat-basiert, noch bevor es #RHEL gab und hatten 10 Jahre Security-Patches (ja, die haben das quasi erfunden). Dann kamen RHEL und #CentOS als unabhängiger Klon, SL wurde auf RHEL umgestellt (+ Erweiterungen). 2014 hat Red Hat CentOS übernommen und beim Fermilab den wichtigsten Maintainer abgeworben; SL wurde faktisch ein CentOS-Klon. Und dann hat Red Hat CentOS gekillt.
