A friend recommended me "Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes". It's a wonderful short movie about time travel! Its level of rigour and complexity reminded me of "Primer", a legendary title.

But "Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes" has its own personality, with some comedy touch (something very difficult in the world of science fiction!). I recommend it wholeheartedly!!

What must a great movie have? Obviously cave-dwelling mutant cannibals. Amazon warrior women. A cute robot. Dinosaurs. And Sybil Danning as an evil alien queen in bondage gear. Fred Olen Ray’s The Phantom Empire (1988) has all these things.

Slithis (AKA Spawn of the Slithis) is a low-budget 1978 US sci-fi/horror movie. A slime monster from the deep is on a killing rampage in California. A good old-fashioned monster movie that doesn’t try to be too clever. Stock up on beer and popcorn and you'll have fun.

Dimension 5 (1966) tries to combine espionage and scifi in an ambitious way and considering the tiny budget it’s a lot better than one might have feared. In fact it’s fun, with spies jumping across space and time and plots to blow up cities.

Like most of Paul Verhoeven’s movies Starship Troopers (1997) has been widely misunderstood. There’s so much action, violence and noise and so many special effects that a lot of viewers don't notice that this is satire, and that it's intended to satirise Heinlein's novel.

Intelligent provocative scifi.

A Boy and His Dog (1975), based on Harlan Ellison's novella, defined the post-apocalyptic scifi movie genre for decades to come. A teenaged boy wanders the post-nuclear wasteland with his dog. They're equally savage.

Visually impressive. Flawed but interesting. Let down by the ending (Ellison's story got the ending right).
