Fascinating. Popular gen-purpose #Mastodon instances (like mas.to) are being muted by special-purpose instances (like types.pl) because they have too many people on them. This puts Mastodon in even more danger of becoming a fragmented collection of Facebook groups. So much for #SciMastodon interdisciplinarity. Thanks to @csgordon for pointing this scary trend out!

(note that types.pl seems to have unblocked mas.to for now AFAICT but the potential is still quite shocking to think about)

What would be the best instance to create Mastodon accounts for #bioinformatics #databases and projects? genomics.social looks promising, would such accounts be welcome @Psy_Fer_? Or a more generalist instance? #scimastodon
