It's my birthday! And here's a photo of a couple of visually interesting gifts, a chance to try an older malt (usually out of my price range) and to experiment with a fun flavour when I get back to cocktailing.

The amazing Dallas Dhu preserved distillery south of Forres. The distillery was built in 1898-9 and closed in 1983. It reopened as a visitor attraction in 1988 and gives an excellent insight into the distiller’s art. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/forres/dallasdhu/index.html

When it opened in 2018, the Borders Distillery in Hawick became the first (legal) whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837.
