This photo gives a better idea of the scale of the cairn. It would have taken a massive amount of dedicated effort by many people to collect all the stones required for this cairn and move them up to the top of the hill (which is surprisingly steep for a relatively low summit).

The 4,500 year old Bronze Age cairn on the top of Tinto Hill (height 711 metres) to the south east of Glasgow. This means it was constructed about the same time as the Great Pyramid at Giza. It is one of the largest Bronze Age cairns in Britain.

PS. Pro tip - if you’ve cycled around east Lothian, desperate for a decent climb, you’re basically cycling a tour of Scottish witch trials. I thought Agnes Sampson was from North Berwick. Turns out she was from Humbie, which is a decent (short) climb by East Lothian standards. (East Lothian responsible for 1/3rd of all convictions of witchcraft in Scotland).
