There are plenty of photos of the Old Man of Storr but fewer from it as the paths around it can be a bit of a scramble. The surrounding area, including 'The Sanctuary' behind it (as usually viewed) is also well worth exploring.
A unique and often bizarre landscape.
This was taken from the path that runs up and around the Old Man and behind 'The Cathedral'.
Yes, the names are all wonderful 🙂

A misty and overcast day heading over to explore the mainland. First stop this morning was the always excellent Midge Bite Cafe in #Achnasheen. Coffee and cakes for the journey.
On the left the #A832 winds towards #Dingwall and #Inverness, on the right, the #Kyle of Lochalsh railway line mirrors the road and makes a similar journey through the #Highlands

...doubtless those around here with bigger cameras and longer lenses will have better photos but the fact this is handheld from the phone suggests how close they came around the headland. Perfect timing after the walk down the beach from Rosemarkie

Another fine place for a gentle weekend walk, the impressive 5 metre-high Duirinish standing stone overlooking Dunvegan... It's not as old as it may seem. Well, the rock itself is 🙂... But it's not been in place as long as long as you might imagine.

One from last week, this time looking North from An Aird along the sound of Raasay.
Raasay itself on the right, Ben Tianavaig on the left showing the curved cliff side footpath on the South face which makes for a nice walk to the summit. Behind that The Storr is capped with snow. You can sort-of make out the famous Old Man of Storr but it's much easier to spot from the land side, when backed by the sky, than from the sea side ....backed by more rock🙂

A final one for #waterfallwednesday from Sligachan today 🙂Although the #fairypools get lots of attention from visitors the (usually) much quieter pools away to the North-East at Allt Dearg Mor are equally impressive with crystal clear water and the backdrop of the Cuillins.
