A friend helped me find this perennial flowering plant, Hemp-agrimony, growing in a very sheltered south-facing wildish site near Alva. It is native to parts of the UK, a Red-Listed native plant for Great Britain but described as an ‘Escape’ in Scotland. So it is a bit of oddity, Red-Listed, but not on the Scottish Biodiversity List. Described as attractive to butterflies, in a similar way to Buddleia. Always learning new things!

Single Spear Thistle flower providing a good buffet for these 3 or 4 Hover-flies. Think they might be Syrphus ribesii, a very common and widespread Hover-fly in the UK.

Found this Broad-leaved Helleborine, Orchid species native to UK. It’s at flower bud stage, sown itself within the Garden of Time at Stirling Uni Campus. (Species is elsewhere on the campus too.) The greeny white flower buds on the spike should open to be a reddy-brown colour in a wee while. (If in shade might be greenish colour.) Plant can grow to ~90cm. This one about 75cm at the moment. Will try to get a photo of it flowering fully.
