You know what fun, fun, fun I won’t be having in the sun, sun, sun?
Code Of Conduct typing up.
Each of the Sixes did their suggestions at the last Meeting, the sandwich filling in the bread of my “fun” activities.
Now I have make them into something to put on the Scout Hut wall for them follow.
And should count towards Module 15 validation.

UPDATE:
I’ve decided to make the Cubs Meeting less complicated. I’ve asked the Cub Leader to do the Grand Howl.
I’m not happy enough with what I want to say to the Cubs for the Activities I have planned, and I think I’ll have a brain freeze if I try to juggle too much.
We’re also doing something I can use for validating a Training Module tonight, and doing that and 2 activities seems plenty for one night, especially given how new I am at this. A ceremony is a step too far. #ScoutingNewbie
Woo!
Today’s schedule would be the same as last week, if it weren’t for that I’m theoretically doing a lot at tonight’s Cubs Meeting, & I feel I need headspace time for preparation & mental rehearsal.
This means I’m not helping with junior tennis this afternoon.
The Cubs plan involves me running Grand Howl for the 1st time, & then running 2 activities/games I’ve suggested for the whole Pack. ALL FIRSTS!
So, 3 things dealing with the whole Pack simultaneously.
My Scout Group necker, as presented to me last night at my Investiture.

Swear I’m an inch taller after my Investiture.
The Cub Leader got the 4 Sixers to read a line or so each of my chosen variation of The Scout Promise, which I repeated back whilst doing the Scout Sign. And then I shook hands with the Cub Leader.
Very special.
And so I’m an Assistant Cub Scout Leader proper now. 😊
(One of the most outgoing Cubs came over to congratulate me. They are going to be quite the Sixer when it’s their turn. 😀 )

Woo!
Will today be the Wooiest (technical term) Wednesday ever?
It could be the last in the current format as I may have to change the rest for career change reasons.
It’s my first Cubs Meeting as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader tonight.
The original plan was my Investiture would be Week 4, as we have something special planned, and will also invest some Cubs. However the Cub Leader and I together decided to move mine forward.

I think I’ve been spoiled by non-iron and easy to iron clothing. And I so rarely iron shirts.
Just ironed my new Scout Uniform shirt for the first time.
Not too bad a job. Lots of room to improve, if not the end result, but the time I take to do it.
The uniform shirts are impressively well made and robust, and need to be.
Tomorrow night is it’s first outing.
Bloomin ‘eck. The Scouting AGMs are coming in thick and fast.
Regional, Scotland and now District…but not occurring in that order.
No scheduling clashes so far. 😆 📆

Email just came in for First Aid module course opportunities. And I’ve hopefully successfully booked myself on the 1st one.
Glad I noticed that. Looks like I was 2nd person to book. Just awaiting the confirmation.
Always thought I should do a First Aid course, and now being involved with #Scouting has brought it about.

Our Cub Leader just dropped off my uniform shirt.
We had a quick natter (quick as it was raining) and decided between us to have my Investiture at the 1st Meeting instead of the 4th. 😀

Question for UK Scout Leaders (current and former):
How early from your Role being Full did you start doing courses for Activity Permits?
Obviously getting modules done for the Wood Badge is the priority.
All general comments, thoughts and advice appreciated.
(I saw a Have A Go weekend on Scouts Scotland social media here & it got me wondering. https://lapwinglodge.org.uk/)
Isn’t it just like it when you check your email at 11pm and you find you got an email around 6pm about a last minute opportunity for First Aid Training for Scouts.
No indication of number of places and next weekend!
I’m going to have to see if I can get a place on it and be able to get there at short notice.

Well that was fun! Not necessarily a phrase everyone will associate with the phrase “Term Planning Meeting”, but it was.
Hopefully will be for the #Cubs too. I’m pretty sure they’ll enjoy it. Well except for my investiture. 🤡 Not that it’s Week 1, it’s down for Week 4, we’ll invest some Cubs at the same time AND we get to do it in a great location. 🏰
Should be aMazing. Not a typo. 😉

I found myself getting a bit flustered last night with what may well be over preparation for this morning’s Cubs Term Planning Meeting. But I just took a mental step back and told myself to relax.
Being new at this, I was planning on absorbing it all in and seeing how my colleagues normally do this, get a feel for their process. I had to tell myself there’s no need to be worried, I just need to familiarise myself with how his team works and how I can be useful part of it.
Today is, aside from Tennis Assistant duties at the junior tennis “camp”, all about planning.
Preparing for the Cubs term planning meeting, which is definitely tomorrow.
Better to be over prepared, or what I THINK is over prepared, than not.
I’ve got an idea of what it will be like in my head, but it may be different for all I know.
I may end up taking the kitchen sink with me and then forgetting something obvious.

I see I have a new sign off available to me now.

Just spotted a notification for what would be my first Scouting AGM in my email.
It’s a Regional one (East Scotland).
Sounds interesting. I’ll be taking the Online Attendance option though, I can’t justify the travel arrangements necessary for it, and I’ve not been involved long enough to be likely to want to make any input, especially at such a high level.
