When you post images or video, please provide at least a basic description in #AltText. Some in the Fediverse rely on them for a complete experience, using a #ScreenReader.

Good evening mastofolks. Today, I performed my first #accessibility test on a mobile app that's currently available as a stable release.
I tested my first website in 2018, but up until now, I have only tested beta-stage websites and apps. So today was a major breakthrough.
Currently, I test sites and apps on Windows and Android only. I mainly focus on #UX (user experience) testing, to ensure that websites and apps are ACE!
A: Accessible for #ScreenReader users.
C: Clear and transparent.
E: Easy to navigate.

Leider kann ich den Trööt nicht boosten: Da Du an den beiden Bildern keine #BildBeschreibung eingetragen hast, würde ich mir Folgende #ScreenReader Nutzende vor den Bus werfen.

I thought it couldn't get any worse, but the Instagram website, specifically the direct messaging chats list, has gone even further down the accessibility toilet. As of now, my screen reader cannot see chats that I know exist. Particularly frustrating as fellow students and student groups use Instagram direct messaging religiously.

Bit of an odd one, is there any #screenreader that outputs everything it reads to a text file somewhere? Want to try some bits in #CSS and other browser features and would be good to have backup copies of what the screen readers said before and after the changes to my page.

I run Fedora Linux with XFCE desktop and I'm trying to get speakup #screenreader operational. The modules are all compiled in the kernel but from there I'm lost. Accessability wants Orca to run but I hate gnome.

Surely there is a simple document showing me but I have been googling all day. Rather DDG

Dann würde peinlich auffallen, dass sich das Social Media Team @Bundesregierung allzu oft die ›Freiheit‹ gönnt, unter Missachtung simpelster Regeln der #Inklusion auf #BildBeschreibung zu verzichten.

Trotz vieler Hinweise werfen sie immer wieder #ScreenReader Nutzende vor den Bus – zuletzt jetzt vorgestern, beim Trööt über künstliche Intelligenz und vor 6 Tagen beim Thema Namensrecht.

Something I've just learned: if you post your #Wordle (etc.) results, people using a #screenreader hear a #long_tedious_litany ("Big green square; big yellow square; big green square..." etc. for six rows of five squares, and it can be worse in other games).

So by all means post your results, but stick 'em behind a #CW.
