What's this kind of screw called, and how's it used? It came with a surface-mount electrical junction box so I'm guessing that it's for hammering first, and tightening after – though the thread seems to be more of a friction grabber than a screw thread – not deep enough to catch timber framing. The point is sharper than most nails I've encountered.

Went on a quest to the hardware store to find a replacement for this 6mm screw that goes in a recessed hole on my Cetma’s Metropolis stem. The original one has a smaller cap than a regular screw, so a new one won’t fit. Poor @yirggzmb is having a time of getting a #stripped screw out of a Nintendo #2DS and the internet solutions are... not helpful. She's got a tiny screw that's inset in a channel away from the surface, and right over the circuitboard. It is the last screw holding the two faces together, which are also connected with a delicate ribbon cable.
