Butterfly looks pretty cool like this - almost fretwork-like. Making a blue-variant (pictured), and a red-orange-yellow one (already clamped off-camera).

The test run has grown. Adding more requested hearts to the lineup. Can't do a full #pride heart without dying green sadly. I'm not going to use lignam vitae for green, because it's toxic. Nor poplar because it fades to brown.
Time for more sanding!

Lesbian hearts = bloodwood, tulip, maple, myrtle, and chakta viga.

Non-binary hearts = ebony, purpleheart, maple, yellowheart.

Working outside my comfort zone with some geometric stylized fox faces, for a friend's logo. The design has the faces sitting on a white background, with just the ink lines marking the difference between the white fox face, and the white background. I converted the ink lines into strips of ebony. White is maple, grey is buckeye burl, and orange is chakta viga. Rather than being flush with the background, they'll be raised up a little to cast a shadow.

Finished up the top mosasaur, and then wondered if it would look better in red tones instead of blue/grey tones. So, now I have two! It's a school of mosasaurs. A pod? What do you call a group of mosasaurs? A fluke?

All natural wood colors, no stains. Top: blue mahoe, buckeye burl, turquoise, blue gum. Bottom: bloodwood, chakta viga, yellowheart. Both with ebony & holly eyes, with birdseye maple throat.
